The Romo Lab

Host-Fungal-Bacterial interactions in the gastrointestinal tract
We are part of the South Texas Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases (STCEID) and are located in the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Research in the Romo lab is focused on characterizing the role and impact of fungal colonizers in the mammalian gastrointestinal tract during infection by bacterial pathogens. We are particularly interested in trans-kingdom interactions between fungi, bacteria, and their host.
